I am a newcomer to the market. I have done one intraday trading online and charged 0.1% brokerage (not 0.01%); 2 times, for buying and selling. Please let me know your opinion about this rate

0.1% (0.05% B +0.05% S) is the highest rate one gets at any brokerage usually at Indiabulls,Sharekhan,ICICI Direct,HDFC Bank. Today the decent rate u can get is 0.025 or %0.03% (lowest in Geojit). It can go down to 0.01% even.

I have an account with IndiaInfoline (5paisa) - the brokerage started with 5 paisa 50 paisa (intraday and delivery respectively), however, after trading for a few weeks I realised that they were simply eating into my profits. So, I spoke to my RM and asked for a decrease. They then reduced it to 3 paisa/30 paisa, considering my turnover.

After another couple of weeks I got a call from IndiaBulls and they promised me an even lower brokerage (1 paisa/10 paisa) and I opened an account with them as well. When I spoke to my RM about this new brokerage plan they also reduced my brokerage to 1paisa/10 paisa. So, now I have two demat accounts both at 1paisa/10 paisa.

Moral of the story: Speak to your RM and tell them that you are getting a good deal elsewhere, more often than not, if you have a decent turnover, they would agree to it and reduce the brokerage rate.

10 paise both side is outrageous. You can easily get 10 paise singe side, or 7 paise single or even 5 paisa single side.
