Hi

Download IndiaVix through EODDlc .Data will be available in DATA/NSE/Indices folder . File name is IndiaVix.txt. It should be compatible with Metastock and major charting softwares such as Fibotrader,AMI etc.

Give a try and feedback.

The present month volatility stands at 26 versus
last month at 27.8.But on contrary it seem in the
recent days the volatility has increased tremendously.

We had VIX falling gradually in December (from opening value of 27+ on 1st Dec to close of 23+ on 31st Dec). Average was around 26. But in Jan, it fell to minimum of we are seeing the expansion
in it now. Yesterday close was at 28.

I wouldn't compare VIX to a month old value. Better to compare it to more recent value. As a option trader, I do keep an eye on it cause I need to know when is it time to sell the options and when it is right time to buy. I prefer to compare it to more latest past. So today was first time, where it has got into High VIX zone of last 10 days (1.5 Std dev area ie. where it remains hardly 15% of the time). Statistically, that is extreme reading for me based on latest past. 40% jump in VIX from low of 20+ to 28+ now. Going forward, probably we might see few points of drop in VIX .. Isn't the message clear from fear index ?
Last week's value of 20 was too low a value (indicating high degree of complacency among players and this week they all are shaken up and alert now) . I was buying options at that time. Even Feb options were going cheap at that time. I can visualise the face of option seller who sold me 5200 put at 75 Rs. last week which is worth 400 today. Odds were clearly on the PUT Buyers side at that time.
