Hi,
I am relatively new to day trading - started into it couple of weeks ago, miserable, and about to give up. I am figuring that longer term investing is what I am good at and I should stick to it. Anyhow, one question. Has anyone found any use of total buy quantity and total sell quantity in predicting the stock behavior during the day? Few observations I have are - Absolute values don't matter much. Sometimes a stock with bigger buy quantity than sell shows uptrend. Most of the stocks however have sell quantity larger than buy quantity - Changes in buy and sell quantities seem to indicate a move in corresponding direction - Some stocks show short term surge in buy quantity followed by price action. But the price degrades after the buy quantities recede to average levels Any comments? -- Milind |

Those numbers indicate PENDING buy and sell orders, which will be different. Its NOT the buy and sell trades already executed.

Quote:
Hidden quantity=Quantity not disclosed ( I place an order to sell 1000 Tisco but display only 100, a person can hide upto 90% of the quantity, i.e. has to disclose atleast 10% quantity one wishes to SELL or for that matter BUY) My personal opinion and its that of a layman...: Total buy and sell qty. do not matter!!! Now a days softwares are available that can analyse the tick by tick data and give results of Volumes attained on an UP tick and Down tick... may be this data can be used for finding a direction.
