Hi All

Creating a thread on the similar lines of my previous thread.
I would like to collect basic data feed comparison info so that the info should be easily available to all. No more hiding data vendors. :D:D

The information based on my own research to the best of my ability.
However the expectation is that the users will participate and provide info and experience with various datafeed vendors to enhance it further.

If you are associated with any data vendor then please don't SPAM instead point out with proper facts(proofs) that needs to be corrected and it will be done.

DISCLAIMER: I am not associated with any data vendor. if you decide to go with any one then you do so at your own risk.

As per NSE these are the only legal data vendors

http://www.nseindia.com/content/press/List_data_Vendors.pdf

I checked each one of them.

The only people who are in datafeed business are icharts,GDFL,Neotrade and rest all are not directly providing data to retail customer or related to some other business.Apart from this we have esignal which is most likely taking data from Reuters or Bloomberg.

Anybody who is not listed here or not sourcing data through any one of them is illegal vendor.

So we can broadly classify two categories Legal data vendors and Fake data Vendor.

Most of these vendor only provide Level 1 Data saying that our internet is slow / infrastructure cannot handle it but the truth no body is interested in investing more to get accurate data. As there is no competition people have to satisfy with whatever quality data is available.

NSE provides the following types of data feed

Level 1 Datafeed :
Level 1 datafeed contain 1 level of market depth

Cost of CM:

Cost of FO:

Cost of CD:

Level 2 Datafeed:
Level 2 datafeed contains 5 level of market depth

CM cost:

FO Cost:

CD cost:

Level 3 Datafeed:
Level 3 datafeed contains 20 level of market depth.
CD not supported for Level3.

CM and FO cost:

Tick-By-Tick
This datafeed contains all the messages of market activity that means entire depth of market is visible.

Tarrif:

All these datafeed vendor should come under "software product" category if I am not mistaken.

There is assumption based stuff posted here, esignal is not taking data from reuters or bloomberg as you posted, esignal is a retail division of IDC (Interactive Data Corporation ) which is a NYSE listed company.

brp brother, your ability to do such comparisons is just Mind Blowing ! Hats off to you. Your work is a great help to the trading community. It saves so much of time for so many traders, because they can just make use of this research work and see all the plus and minus of different vendor offerings and then make a wise decision. We salute your hard work. :thumb:

Although few vendors will definitely feel the heat and will be forced to give a better deal to their clients, otherwise they will get exposed badly because of this comparison work.

Thanks a lot for your great contribution. :thumb:

It won't bring any big changes over all as most of commercial data vendors are on back foot due to costing involved and i think NSE is one of the world costliest things to charges for one to become vendors or re distributor next to the LME, though brp contribution is eye opener to many whom bother to see why cost of legal vendors are way high when compared to illegal peers around.

No vendors will feel heat or warm because of this of simple facts to provide data of tick it just cost few millions dollars to set up a good own data server and several thousand dollars per month for managing them efficiently and effectively plus the vending charges of 50 L per segment :D which is simple killers when there is no real retail requirement for it, who says INDIA is developing country :D when coming to charges to stared business they are over developed than western peers :)

if you notice in my statement I have used the word "most likely" that means I am not sure. Thanks for your contribution.

Just because there is an error in his report, does not mean that all the stuff is based on assumptions ! You have nothing positive to say on the kind of effort that he has put in making all this. You could have pointed out that error in a polite manner too. :annoyed:

I have been using esignal for more then 5 years. IDC took over esignal just a few years back and not many people are aware of this takeover "so they continue to assume Interactive Data and Esignal as separate companies".

brp brother, we understand that in doing this kind of research work, there are bound to be a few lapses here and there. But please do not let negative comments discourage you. There are many more members here, who truly appreciate your hard work. Please carry it on. :thumb:

Regards

PS : You may put a note in the first post that if any user finds any error in the posts that you have made, then he/she can report that error, and it will be corrected in the main post.
