Thank you very much for sending me the ***** tickers list. Sorry for delayed reply. I did as you told me & got the companies list on Fourth box at the top.Thank U for that. Now the problem is “IMPORTING”or downloading the historical Price data for all these companies. This is where I failed. I tried as written by Marshes as fallows 5. Next again click on "Settings". a. In the pop-up click on "Downloader". Paste this url in "Data downloader" and "Backfill Url" http://ichart.finance.*****.com/tabl...YY&g=d&a=sMM&b =sDD&c=sYYYY&ignore=.csv b. Change the "Start Date" & "End Date" to whatever dates you want. Exit. 6. Again click "Settings"."Other Urls" and paste this url. http://finance.*****.com/q?s=@@@.NS&d=v1 Exit by pressing "OK". 7. Now, On top you will see 5 drop down lists. Select All() in the second and the third drop downs. In the fourth drop down if you click on the down arrow you will be able to see the stock codes that you imported earlier. Highlight the code for which you wish to download historical data. 8.On the top big window, Right-click...this will give a pop-up with "Data" as one of the options. Click on it,and then on.”Download 12 months using back refill Url". Here the problem arised. That when I clicked “data”-I got one more pop up & I did not know what to do Then I tried as fallows- Problem no.1 a)1)Import-export->Backfill->Filled- http://ichart.finance.*****.com/tabl...YY&g=d&a=sMM&b =sDD&c=sYYYY&ignore=.csv 2)Market suffix-> Filled-.NS 3)Start date-06/29/2005-End date-06/29/2007 4) )Start letter-A. end letter-C Wacth list-0 5)delay (ms)-10 (as it was) 6)Ignore tickers—lest it blank. b)download->a)Pasted the URL -> http://quote.*****.com/d/quotes.csv?...1ohgl1v&e=.csv B)Market suffix->.NS c)Ticked Fetch price data & Fetch fundamentals d)Ignore tickers –Left it blank. c)Clicked –Start download I got the message- Checking-companies name After some time at box in the bottom I got “no data in this file”! is This problem no one ================================================== ====== Then I tried this->Other-> clicked –download & import company data I got a pop up window –“asking-download from” I did not know what to fill in =============================================== Now the questions are- 1)How to download (or import ?) 2 years historical price data of all the co’s of NSE(India) from *****? 2)What are the URL addresses that must be filled in “Data downloader” “Backfill”& “otherURL”? 3)How many co’s data can I down load at a time? ============================================ Now, dear Santo ,Can you please kindly guide me by answering Above questions.””in a step by step method” I will be very great full for you reply. Any other kind senior members may also answer Sorry the letter has become very lengthy but it was inevitable. Thanking U again a_balu1956@*****.co.in |

Dear balachandraji...
If you have installed the version 1.5.96e then there is no need for editing the download url.I will try to explain things one by one 1.ensure that the version is 1.5.96e 2.import the tickers file i mailed you,(you may have already done this) If this is the file you use, you will see .ns in all the tickers. 3.click the import/export button (the third one from top left) 4.now you will see the import/export dialogue box,in the top row of this box you will see the BACK FILL button, click it... 5.now you will see the backfill dialogue box and the url in the white box will be this> http://ichart.finance.*****.com/tabl...%%&ignore=.csv 6.market suffix box >>> leave it blank (because our tickers already contain the suffix .ns) 7.star date/end date>>>> here fill in the period for which you need data and better if you leave todays date.Upto yester day you can back fill. 8.The back fill process is time consuming.so let us split it into parts. This can be done by filling the start and end letter boxes suitably. For example put a in start letter box and put bzz in end letter date. this will fill the data for all tickers starting with the alphabets a&b. 9.Tick the clear temporary files after import box. 10.click start download.. 11.For day to day filling up of data open the program preferably after 5pm and click import/export. 12.click download button 13.The url will be this>>> http://download.finance.*****.com/d/...1ohgl1v&e=.csv 14.click the start button. Now you will get the latest trading days prices. I hope the above description is sufficient...If any clarification is required please let me know.. regards... santo. |

Dear sir,
I use both FCharts & Metastock & download EOD from *****. When I download EOD data it takes same amount of time for a single day and also for one day data download! Is it normal? And also I heard that ***** will send EOD to my email? How to do it? I will be greatful to those who send me a detailed answer. Dear Traderji’s Sri,Shrees & Sri,Santo and all members, 1)I am new to FCharts.I have downloaded Historical data with the help of our co members Sri,Shrees & Sri,Santo Now I am feeling difficulty in updating price data of daily prices. I tried downloading historical data daily (using start date & end date for that date) though it works well. But it takes too much of time. When I was trying It asked “whether to delete temp files” I used to tick “yes” After 3-4 days Mr.Santo wrote me to update data daily. Then I Knew my mistake, & I have to Utilize import file prices or import folder (In which folder it will be?) By studying your forum I understood that EOD DATA can be downloaded daily 1)using nsebhavcopy (but mine is downloaded From *****!) I came to know that ***** daily data will be emailed to my address automatically HOW TO DO THAT? . And also I downloaded “quote tracker”which they say can update AUTOMATICALLY? Pl.kindly help me by explaining in STEP BY STEP METHOD. Mr. Santo sent me the useful readymade scrip list. Some of the scrips does not show charts & I want to delete such scrips? As I have not well versed, may be I should use edit srips With regards a_balu1956@*****.co.in |
