My first attempt to make an utility, but where to get data !

#1
I am a professional Java developer with more then 5 years of experience, I want to create some utilities and I need EOD/Historical data for BSE/NSE. I cant pay, it must be free. Can any one tell me how can I get started. What I need to know is where to get the data (plz give links) and some resources which explains the structure/format of that data feed. If I create any useful utility I will be happy yo share it with traderji members.

Thanks

As I said in the first post, I can not pay, it must be completely free.
Currently I have no earnings from stock market :)

Wrong attitute

Doesnt work that way here.

Maybe you will try to hack into a brokers server to execute your trades too, since bkg will also go out of your pocket, and you still dont have money made from market.

Its like sitting in front of the fireplace and asking it to give you fire, then you will give it firewood.

Stop wasting your time for something that costs less than 500 rs a month
This is not about paying/cost or money. When some one is looking for a free API it means he wants it free, there are no questions as why you want it free or why isn't he paying Re 500. Ofcourse you can suggest paid alternatives but cant blame his attitude.. This is how opensource things works.. when some one say he is looking for an opensource, he mean it.. there's no questions of attitude.

Thanks

Its easy bro...Get it from NSE\BSE directly.

I am also java dev and I have devloped whole portfolio manger and tech analysis s\w using data from these sites.

NSE provide the historical bhavcopy for last 2-3 years while bse gives for last 10 years.
THis is url for todays bhavcopy. THe naming format for historical BC is also same.

Gimme a shout if you need any help for this

BTW you can also get the realtime price from NSE. Not very clean way (Need to make one call per stock) but for list of upto 100 stocks it works fime with 15 sec interval.

PS: can you share the idea of your utility if possible.
