Some Interesting facts regarding all this ......
---tata Motors was set -up in SEZ.. but the land was acquired by WB govt. for them but in Gujarat the land is sold by Govt. to them.. so no issues in future.. --- In last leg of Singur drama.. Bodhdeb -- ratan tata Meeting strts at 10:00 and ends at 5:30 pm.... WB govt. tried hard.. but tata had made his mind... in press conference he said tht Business can't done under Police Protection.... Although mahindra is going to set up Plant in Wb... and there is no Drama for them there.. surprise.. ---- intially there was rumours tht they are going to acquire 500acres of landbut Modi has given then 1100Acres of land.. it may convert to SEZ...it is logically next move for TATA.. -- Gujarat is only Place in India where Neither SEZs nor Retail chains faced any protest from general Public...and have very stable Govt. in state with very weak opposition. chintan |

Delhi is all politics and companies have their HQ there for name sake but yes we do have delhi-gurgoan-faridabad-noida area which still is much better industrialised than most of the other states in india. Karnataka has nothing to speak of other than volvo while A.P has had no major industrial development though all the three southern states (barring kerala) have all the software companies you can think of , there is nothing that can generate employment to all classes of people like manufacturing does . I have not been to other states hence cant comment but i really dont know what other states where doing all these years without claiming these important projects but right now they are fighting like mad for nano. Its likely to take more than one nano project to transform any state and its likely to take more than 3-4 states to develop if we are to be a major force in world map. I think the only way this can happen is by sharing major industrial projects between states and those 3-4 industrialised states should not be allowed to bid for future projects... |

Take for example Bihar. During first two or three decades , it was most industrialised state with all resources. But where is it now. Nobody thinks of Bihar as Industrial destination. Its mired in corruption, law and order problem and what not. CM is unable to provide leadership and we had Laloo who sucked blood out of Bihar as Vampire. Why no private Educational trust think of opening Engg or medical colleges in Bihar?? Most of them would open in TN or Karnataka or Maharashtra. Students from Bihar go to these colleges spending fortunes to get Engg degree. Its difficult to do business in Bihar. Unless situation changes and we too get someone like Modi ( We have Sushil Modi from BJP but he is a nincompoop) then only Bihar would hope to get any share. Similar stories could be about UP, MP, Chattisgarh or Orrisa. Jharkhand had some hope in initial years of forming but then it is all but lost. Look at Himanchal and Uttaranchal , both under BJP have done much better. Its not that I was fond of BJP earlier or now. It just happens to govern the better governed states and credit goes to state leadership rather than BJP's central Leadership. May be Modi as PM would do wonders for India. I can see Congress and Left squirming in their pants. But for BJP to truly represent Pan Indian identity has to take into confidence all communities else it will remain branded as communal party. It is good that states are competing so visibly for industrial development. May be one day, other states may also wake up. We have a long way to go. One NANO is really not enough. pk

Hi!
The "Nano" story tells many other things to the people of this country. Which are the states, where the industrial growth is ..... in a way limited due to too much Political interference, and which are the states, where the Political machinery is using it's fist to try for better Industrial Growth. Those states, where the central govt has given tax bonanza for setting up the units, are definately NOT a part of this consideration. In Mumbai language, they all are "Kutccha Limboo" Officials of Tata Motors getting greated by agitating persons at the Hyderabad airport is also NOT good. The political parties doing such and similar things are not only anti-development for that stae, but in a way are also having anti-India view. ...... "Rashtra Drohi" attitude. I wonder, that instead of killing innocent people, why such people are not made the targets by the terrorists, whose basic war is with the politicians and their decisions. .... unless......? But I could be wrong ![]() Cheers! SS |

I was surprised by the ease with which Ratan Tata mingled with both CM , from diametrically opposite sides. That speaks volumes of his political neutrality and integrity. Nobody doubted his actions for a moment. Others would have been butchered for being seen with Modi.
No wonder respect for him only grows. pk
