Do the traditional mutual funds from hdfc/axis/franklin templeton and so on do they hedge portfolio with options/futures. Do they actively manage it?
how are those mutual funds different from small case

Some info on the same https://www.quora.com/Why-dont-mutu...rt-using-derivatives-when-markets-are-falling
The only difference I can really spot is the expense ratio.
Apparently tons of calcs show that exp ratio of 1%-3.5% in compounding over long-term becomes a huge difference.

2ndly, MF is a recognized investment system where fund houses collect and hold ur money hence accountability and strict SEBI Monitoring whereas smallcase is direct trx to ur demat and hence no forward risks.

Performance of the smallcase is the only risk.

Z also came up with opentrade but I've seen many -ve responses to it.

I just gone through the smallcase website. For me it seems

the big difference is, in MF you can buy for even 500 rupees because that works based on Units, but the smallcase works on stock value concept means if your portfolio contains maruti share which alone costs you 6000+ minimum, then see if your portfolio contains more such stocks then the minimum amt becomes much higher.

Looks like no interest ...
In my opinion, the reason people not showing much interest is, I guess, the smallcase showcases only their own thematic portfolios and there is no facility to showcase portfolios of people like us as the only option for us to keep the smallcase in private mode.

That defeats the purpose of building OUR traderji hedgefund in smallcase portfolio. All we are going to build is a portfolio for us.

Second, what we are going to build is traderji hedgefund but smallcase doesn't offer any hedging facilities. they just allow us to buy, sell. Without a hedging facility, I would call a portfolio as just a hope portfolio because all we are considering is forever the current bull markets going to go up and up only.

HI ALL,

Based on this thread I researched how to select scrips and when to enter.
Started following below method:.

1. Searched which particular stocks bought by MF in March in Particular and Jan to Feb quarter whole. They are bought only scrips not Sell by 1 Fund House and Bought by another.

2. Selected Few MF schemes whose Investment I want mirror in coming days.

3. Horizon of stay invested is 30%+ return in 3-5 years.

Among the Selected Few bought Following today:
Somani Ceramic, Kajaria Ceramic & Karur Vyas Bank.
Total Invested today is 10K. Target to invest is 100K in next 4-5 months.

Next on Radar : Dr.Lal Path lab & Manpasand Beverage.

Next thing to understand: how to decide Weightage of particular scrip in portfolio.

Please share your thoughts.

Regards,
Today Bought More stks worth 5k total:
Manpasand Beverages 2. Dmart & Voltamp Transformer
