Trade with FIIs

#1
Friends,

The purpose of this thread is the consolidate information on the trading patterns of FIIs. Its common knowledge that they are the market movers in India (along with DIIs).

So to start with, here is what I beileve FIIs track for their investment purpose
  1. Monitor 50 DMA
  2. Track Dollar rate
  • This is more than just USD-INR refernce. But, more to do with the overall position of Dollar in the World market. This is determined by Dollar Index, aka DXY. You could review DXY from http://www.marketwatch.com/investing/index/DXY

Refer to the image to get a comparison on the DXY index and NIFTY. As you will observe that there is a negative co-relation between DXY and NIFTY. DXY started falling in Mar 09, and thats when market started heading up.

Now the open question - What could be the other considerations which are FIIs favourites?

Currently DXY is already over-bought and trading at upper bollinger band. Matters from Europe is helping this index move up further. EURO lost quite a lot since last 2 weeks against US$

Currently DXY is at 80, and last night US markets scalled up +100 points from the bottom to close flat as the DXY lost some steam.

Lets keep an eye on DXY as it should reverse sooner than later :)
