Thematic Investing or Mutual Fund?

Which one is best for long term investment with high return and less risk thematic investing or mutual fund?

Hey, both has its own pros and cons.

In the case of Mutual funds, I believe it is completely mean for the people who are naive in the stock market and wish to invest in stocks to make high returns on investment.

On the other hand, Thematic investing is a bit advanced version of passive investments like mutual funds. Here, you have some idea which industry/sector you are going to target. However, you have no clue/time in researching the stocks to invest in. This is where it helps you finding the ready-made portfolios which suit your requirement.

The main disadvantage in mutual funds is the costing part. You pay various charges and trailing commissions that eventually reduces your capital invested. Whereas the thematic investment costs you a very minimal amount. I've heard Fyers offers it at free of cost. Just attaching a link for your clarity: https://thematic.fyers.in/

Having said that, a major disadvantage in thematic investing is you need to keep a track of your portfolios on your own.

A mutual fund based on its stated objective invests in a wide variety of stocks from various sectors to diversify risk, while giving decent returns when held over a long period.
