The Holy Grail

to add a few more points which are holy grails in my view

1) Understanding market behaviours/cycle.Changing urself with market conditions and trading accordingly. Accepting the fact that no one method works every time

2) Accepting that, big returns possible in long term with defensive strategy giving consistent profits with good money management.

3) Understanding urself and devising plans to trade which are in sync with your mentality.

For example the current market condition is pathetic. Trends are fragile. Volumes have disappeared. VIX stuck at 16. We are hardly getting a 30-40 point daily range in Nifty.

Trend followers and breakout traders are being tossed around by the market everyday and are bleeding money regularly.Option buyers and sellers also taking the heat.

So what i am doing currently in this phase.

1) Cutting down on trade size.
2) I look for high probability trades, RR can be less. RR of even 1 is good enough.
3) Applying Hit and Run strategy. Which means entry is as per the system but profits are protected all the time with tight TSL. Exits are most of the time discretionary.
4) Looking for trading oppurtunity in Stocks which are trending rather than trading the index

Yeap, I see it. Difficult markets for short time traders. Any other possibility's for you over there?

Still no options in commodities to trade hedged and still no change in margin requirements for hedged strategies?

If it doesn't work on any kind of market on any given conditions it might not be "THE" holy grail.

I think it will take another 5 years to get these features in Indian market... :annoyed:

धीरे धीरे बन्दर ख़तम हो गए. उसने रेट बड़ा कर ७५ रूपये कर दिया गाँव वाले पड़ोस के गाँव से भी बन्दर पकड़ पकड़ कर लेकर आये और उस आदमी को ७५ रूपये के हिसाब से बन्दर बेचने लगे. एक दिन पड़ोस के गाँव में भी बन्दर ख़तम हो गए तो उस आदमी ने रेट बड़ा कर १०० रूपये कर दिया गाँव वालो ने और दूर दूर से बन्दर पके और उस आदमी को दिए. अब उस आदमी के पास लगभग १००० बन्दर हो गए.

उसने गाँव वालो को इकठ्ठा किया और बताया उसे अभी १००० बन्दर और चाहिए. और रेट होगा २०० रूपये और ये सब बन्दर उसे ३ दिन में चाहिए. इतना कहकर वो अपना एक सहायक गाँव में छोड़कर शहर चला गया और तीन दिन बाद बाकी बन्दर लेने आने के लिए बोल गया. गाँव वाले बहुत परेशान क्योकि अपने आस पास के सारे बन्दर तो वो पहले ही पकड़ चुके थे. गाँव वालो को परेशान देखकर उस आदमी का सहायक बोलता है. " मुझे पता है उसने पहले ख़रीदे हुए १००० बन्दर कहाँ पर रखे है. अगर आप १५० रूपये के हिसाब से खरीद लो तो उस आदमी के वापस आने पर उसे २०० रूपये में बेच देना २-३ दिन की ही तो बात है. " इस तरह गाँव वालो ने सरे बन्दर वापस खरीद लिए १५० रूपये में. उसके बाद ना तो वो सहायक आज तक दिखाई दिया और ना ही वो आदमी जो बन्दर खरीदने आया था.

और इस तरह शुरुआत हुयी पब्लिक की मारने के एक धंधे की जिसे आज हम सभी स्टॉक मार्केट या कामोडिटी मार्केट के नाम से जानते है

The Monkey Story

How the stock market works.

Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each.

The villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them. The man bought thousands at $10 and as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort.

He further announced that he would now buy at $20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.

Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms.

The offer increased to $25 each and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it!

The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $50! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on behalf of him.

In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers; Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them to you at $35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for $50 each.

The villagers rounded up with all their savings and bought all the monkeys. Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere!

Now you have a better understanding of how the stock market works.
