Stretching the graph longitudinal wise often makes you
to lose the OPPORTUNITIES.Because it induces STRETCH
effect.Perhaps 4inches4 inches or the way it appears
on NSE web page is good. For that matter any value may
hold good as long as both vertical and horizontal are equal
in size.In many websites the intra day picture is given
but they lose significance due to STRETCH effect.

The stretch effect can be seen in CNBC telecast also
especially Nifty graph is shown prior to market Opening
when the ANCHOR is pushed to extreme right side.
During Market hour this does not happen.

Perhaps the best representation of NIFTY graph can
be obtained on the opening page of NSE's website.

I am posting today's NIFTY intraday chart ,it has lost depth
    due to STRETCHING effect.

As you can see the picture can be atleast compressed by 40% (left~rigt).

Sometimes elongation in X-axis (time axis) makes
up lose depth (variations).Charts below are
self-explanatory.Though the effect may not be
appreciable in today's Nifty chart,it is felt if NIFTY
    gains/loses appreciably.

    columbus,
do u want to say, the way we look at things can be changed by changing the dimensions ?? or is it something like ... if nifty in consolidation mode n in a tight range, so it appear like stretched out?

Compare my charts given below ,my argument was ,the X-axis and Y-axis lengths should be equal ,at most in the ratio of 1.25:1.On x-axis (hour axis) the units are fixed.we are bothered about Y-axis.(Nifty)Some people has given x-axis as big as 3 times y-axis.In such graphs we don't see just UNDULATIONS in NIFTY but not opportunities.

is that something to do it with log charts and linear charts ?
my concept is not clear about log or linear but knew that much , you get different visual effects on different plotting styles
