This is a query regarding the stock portfolio closing balance at the time of filing tax return.
The person am dealing with, for filing the tax return, insists on having the list of stocks as closing balance. He says that I must buy and maintain a ledger.
I maintain my portfolio in Askkuber. They are only showing the Short-Term/long Term capital gain/loss, not the closing balance for the fin year.
Now in my case I have to pull out all the contract notes and find out I dont know how.
Thus my query is what is the practical way to do it?
Incase someone have a portfolio of say 100 stocks or more how will be do it.
If I buy a ledger and maintain it then suppose I buy and sell a stock to never buy again then what happens to that part of the ledger? If i maintain an excel sheet then also the same query arises, i.e will I have to maintain 100 file or sheets?
Please guide me.
