To apply for NHPC IPOs through HDFC SECURITIES do following things:-
1. deposit the amount in your bank account which you want to invest.
2. go to hdfcsec web site and click the IPO section
3. from the list select NHPC IPO and from here on things will be self explanatory.
4. Money may be taken from your account immediately or at allotment, you should not worry much on this front.
5. You have to wait for few days when you can see the newly allotted shares in your portfolio. (generally it takes 15 to 20 days for allotment)

so thats it. Happy investing.

In Book building issue, the issuer is required to indicate either the price band or a floor price in the red herring prospectus. The actual discovered issue price can be any price in the price band or any price above the floor price. This issue price is called "Cut off price". This is decided by the issuer and Lead Manager after considering the book and investors' appetite for the stock. Only retail individual investors to have an option of applying at cut off price.

For example now nhpc price band is 30 to 36. They may fix any price form 30 to 36 . If company is fixing price as 34 then they will consider the order of cut off for 34. If we are bidding the price for 33 then they wont allot shares for you. So cutoff is

Retail portion of NHPC is 1760 crores, and it is expected to oversubscribe in retail by 4 to 6 times (presuming Retail putting 7000 to 10000 crores as their funds are lying free )

so allotments will be handsome.one may apply for full quantity .

even if you do not have sufficient funds , don't leave it blank apply for even one lot to take chance in lottery for 175 shares allotment
