Motilal Oswal Brokerage Charges are huge for penny stocks

Hi Guys,

I am a victim of Motilal Oswal. I am paying 14% brokerage charges for buying & selling.

Acutally I purchased 6300 shares of Cals Refinery of Rs. 0.72/share. It costs me Rs. 4536.
Motilal Oswal charged Rs. 315 as brokerage for this transaction considering Rs. 0.05 per share instead of total amount paid for this transaction.

This brokerage comes 7.0% means I have to pay 14% for buying & selling this shares.

I am really shocked...and don't know what to do.

Please suggest, how to get my money back.

प्रिय मित्र, सबसे पहले तो मै आपसे यही कहूंगा की आपने Rs 0.72/- वाला शेयर लिया ही क्यों ? Cals Refinery का जो शेयर आपने Rs 0.72 का लिया था वो अब मात्र Rs 0.51 का रह गया है । सही रूप में कभी भी उन शेयरों में निवेश ना करें जो कैश में बदल ना सकें । मेरे विचार में आप इन शेयरों को बेचेंगे तो ये बिकेंगे ही नहीं । बात जहां तक ज्यादा ब्रोक्रेज लेने की है तो मै यही कहना चाहता हूं कि सही स्टाक में निवेश करें आपको कभी ज्यादा ब्रोक्रेज की शिकायत नहीं होगी । मै भी मोतीलाल ओसवाल से ही ट्रेडिंग करता हूं, मुझे आजतक कभी ज्यादा ब्रोक्रेज की शिकायत नहीं हुई ।:clap:

though if u see % wise ofcourse i agree its higher....

But wht u r missing is u are paying 2 paise brokerage on a share.....if u deals in penny...than even a penny increase will be higher in %

though i m not saying they are right....
But i will still say its not bad..atleast u are allowed to deal in such shares.......i myself want to deal in such stock since i know if a price of stock goes from 1 to 2..u get 100% profit...plus u can easily get such price if the stocks operate in low volume.....but hdfc doesnt allow me to trade in stock below 10 rupees..so i m playing with 10-20 rupees stock..and have to b happy with 30-40or at max 50% profit

but still ill say its not that bad.....u can easily strike off the % with increasing the selling price by 2 paise...rather than wasting your time....

Btw why u dealing in stock which is near 0 dont u luv your money??

बहुत बढिया । ये आपने सही कहा कि 0 के पास वाल शेयर लेना ही नहीं चाहिए । क्योंकि ये शायद ही डबल होते हैं । मै तो ये भी कहूंगा कि शेयरों की संख्या नही उनका दम, उनकी चाल देखकर खरीदें ।

So Far In This Discussion Everybody Has Got It Wrong.

If You Were Charged 0.05 Paise That Is Because Your Minimum Brokerage Is 5 Paise, Which Means If Any Scrip That Is Bought By You & As Per The Percentage Brokerage When Calculated Per Share Works Out Less Than 5 Paise, You Will Be Charged 5 Paise Per Share In That Case.

Minimum Charges Is Quite Normal, But Can Be Negotiated.

Savant ji, you have correctly stated the facts and quite accurately.
Trading from Indiabulls on the IFCI counter I experienced the same.
Usually one takes the percentage brokerage charges on the amount(=no of shares X Price). But this is subjected to a minimum of 5 paise per share (minimum brokerage per share ) This is true for Indiabulls ,India Infoline and as seen above in Motilal Oswal. Sharekhan charges around 3 paise.

Assume (not hard since I got the shock today morning) that 100 shares are bought at 50.1 for a turnover of Rs 5010.
Based on percentage brokerage it come s as: 0.05% X 50.1 = 0.02505 Rs
Minimum brokerage per share is 0.05.
Therefore bokerage charges here is higher of (0.02505 or 0.05)

Total brokerage for this trade is: Rs 0.05 X 100= Rs 5.

Its unfair since it prevents us from trading shares than Rs 100 under the percentage brokerage rate. Yup that's what my RM told me.

as per exchange broker can Charge maximum of .25p on per share below of price Rs 10/-

Therefore u can request ur company to reduce ur min brok in delivery segment

motilal oswal charge a minimum brokerage per share is 5 paisa/0.05 paisa that's why you suffer but I am sure some brokers charge no minimum brokerage I just want find it how ever mpopenline in which broking company you do transaction thanx tell best broker
