Arbitrage question.

Is it possible to buy a stock on the nse at say 3:30 pm and sell it on the bse at opening bell next day? to take advantage of any arbitrage opportunity?

Thanks.

In short, No you can't. there is no such thing. A company if listed on both the stock exchanges does not have a common stock volume.

But what you can do is, say ICICI Bank is trading at Rs. 300 at BSE and Rs. 310 at NSE, and if you have accounts on both the exchanges, you can go long on the BSE one and short on the NSE one till their prices converge at a common price, say Rs. 305 and then you close both of your positions and reap the profits. Basic Arbitrage at work.

Hope this helped.
