I have seen this in Crude many timeS.......
And had the same question
And in the end felt that advanced technical analysis or mastering reading of an instrument leads to refined entries and exits OR levels ....... Which even advanced professional players are able to "get" ( same SL level etc. with usual filters etc which a trader would place) and their algos or manual trading is designed to take out.....( It can be some programs as well)

Just check whether to analysed too closely ......

I very interesting question and more answers welcome.....

Are SL - Market orders visible?

Yesterday had gone short in Zinc with a SL of 112.10 I was quite sure of the downtrend, and confident of my SL being safe.

Zinc went down almost 9K from my short entry, but not before triggering my SL @ 112.10 (which was the highest it went before the down move began)

Hence the question I have : Is the SL - Market order visible in the order book? As this order is conditional, I believe that it cannot be seen, but now am having doubts. Can anybody clarify? Thanks
I dont think its visible.

Ive had quite a few instances when my SL would trigger and then the MKT would go in my direction.
Its just unfortunate, when such things happen. The important thing is to re enter at the right time, when it starts moving in the desired direction post SL getting triggered.

But ive also had numerous occasions where my SL was saved by a whisker, like literally.

On crude, for eg. my SL was at 3070, 3070 comes up on the ask side, yet SL didnt trigger as no trade was done at that price and MKT reversed.

Part and parcel of the business. :)

As anticipated Crude crossed 3100 and made a high of 3120
Now looking for 3145/50 as posted previously

Njoy :)

Just checked
If breaches 3090, then can take a dip to 3080/75/65

I am not sure if its visible or not but i do know that most stop orders or new orders are placed just beyond such whole numbers, this is like any other pattern someone trades which has an edge, failure to sustain beyond the new level acts as good signal for entry. Sometimes it may be done to test the level... to intentionally trap the traders, sometimes may happen just by the flow of accumulative action.

Yes. Once you put SL in the system it becomes a part of the order flow comprising hundreds of bids and asks, out of which only 5-6 you can see in snap quote but broker and his chosen 'buddies' can see them all. An ordinary algorithm can figure out the SL cluster, and it usually gets gunned down before the market resumes its previous course. It is an open secret. Why do you think all the brokers have propertiary trading desks in their offices?

Do any of you trade 5 min or 3 min chart in Crude oil. Whatever method you may be using for SL, how many points away is your average initial SL? Thanks a lot.

Also if you can share the same for Copper it would be great. Thanks a lot.

I take trades basis 15M chart. My SL will be in the range of 2-2.5K Max based on the chart pattern.

Just noticed
In Crude
Break of 3040 will be an open invitation for bears.
And then a good fall is anticipated.
