if this happens, its time for you to stop doing business with that particular broker.

complaint to the broker's head office, the address may be available on their website.
submit written complaint to branch office manager, copy to regional/head office.
complaint to SEBI with all details.

precautions you can take :
check you back office almost everyday.

Just my views :

Most traders look to a broker with a low brokerage - including me. A question here : At the cost of saving a few bucks, would you want to risk your capital, dealing with somebody having a dubious reputation or one who has just started the business and one does not have a history? To give an analogy : If you want to buy a smart phone with a budget of say 20-30K would you go for a phone which is proven or the one which you will have to worry about if it can be serviced later? Surely, Samsungs, Apples, HTC and such would be the ones that you will look at. There could be a new or unknown brands say Zixger, who is offering you all the features of a smartphone at 15-20% lower cost, would you buy this phone?

The point I am trying to make is : Go to a broker who has a good reputation, is transparent and has a proven track record so that you can trade peacefully and without having to check each and every contract note. If you have to worry about a broker withdrawing money from your account, you are choosing a wrong broker. Nobody would marry a partner, if he/she has to check who is comming home while you are at work. :( Similarly, with broker, does not matter if he is in Delhi, Mumbai or Calcutta. Go for one who is qualified to handle your account. RKSV, Zerodha are just two of the well known discount brokers. Rest is your choice.
