Demise of Deemat A/c Holder

My father passed away recently. My parents have 2 demat accounts with OBC:

Demat Account 1 - held in the names of (1) Mother's name (2) Father's name
Demat Account 2 - held in the names of (2) Father's name (2) Mother's name

I would be grateful for any help with the following:

Could you please advise what is the procedure to get all the shares in the sole name of my mother and in one account?

Do I need to open yet another Demat account in my mother's sole name (as advised by OBC)? Or can my father's name be deleted from the accounts on the basis of his death certificate?

Thanks, am also searching online (which is how I came across this forum) and am trying to get a handle on what I have to do. Didn't have time during my last visit in june.

I will be in India next month for a longer stay and hope to complete all the necessary formalities.

Thanks, useful to know this. Not sure why they simply can't delete a name (like any bank account) instead of making people go through the entire procedure of a/c opening all over again.
