Broker platform issue

#1
Morning fellow members ,

I am currently with a reputed broker and have faced few big losses on big event days like RBI events etc. I tend to play a lot with volatility and like these big event days during market hours. But there have been occasions , where my trades have gone wrong and stops have not been hit due sudden movement in indexes. Is it a broker platform related issue or it happens with every platform on big event days, esp when nifty / bank nifty moves 0.5%-1% in seconds.

Example : You are long bank nifty and put a stop loss of 25-30 points from the CMP. Its 11 AM and there is a negative rate hike announcement by RBI and bank nifty falls 75 points in one tick followed by few more down ticks. All of a sudden Bank Nifty is down 150 points from your buying price and you are in shock as your SL is not executed. Can broker be blamed for this if the system misses your order.

I will be highly thankful to you guys , if you can share your experience with SL's on these volatile event days. Also , if you all can give your verdict on which platform is the best i.e. Nest/NOW/ODIN/Other ( If Any).

the terminal we use does not have SL-M or SL-L. I dont even know what these stand for .... May be Stop loss market (SL-M)and stop loss limit (SL-L).

can you elaborate what do u mean by slippages

SL-L is the stop loss limit order.
When the trigger price is reached the price u mentioned goes as a limit order in the system. That can get executed or can be missed in case of big movement.
No gurantee of execution.

SL-M is the stop loss market order. Here when the trigger price is reached the order goes as market order just like u buy and sell on market price.

Slippage is the amount of price fluctuation(in a fraction of second) which happens between when the market order goes in the system and when that order gets executed.

I guess slippage is your issue. It it is so, slippage is quite common in NF and BNF and during such events, slippage tends to be too heavy that stop losses are skipped at times. I mean, stop loss wont be triggered because of lack of trade at the point of stoploss.
