DEMAT for USA NRI

Hi,

I am an NRI, Greencard holder, resident and working in USA. I would like to open DEMAT account. Is it possible for NRIs of USA. Most copanies saying only NRI's from all other countries other than USA can open DEMAT account with online trading. I have PAN card also. Can you refer best brokarage companies with good custer support?

I wonder if you were able to open an account. I would appreciate if you can let me know yourexperience.

Opening just DMAT wouldn't help u.
As NRI, you need to have DMAT account to hold stocks, Trading account to execute transaction and NRO type of account for banking txns..

For NRI's, the trading account is comes with a PIS tag.. basically these trading accounts need to be reported to RBI/SEBI.. (I doubt if they really care for all reported account but that is regulatory requirement)

Check out with leadign brokerage house (sharekhan, indiabulls etc) as they have service to support NRIs. Some of them might be limited to specific country.. (like NRI in gulf etc).
Also chk with leading banks that have this facility for NRI (icici, hdfc, citi etc) thru their trading subsidiary..
