brokerage charges for Rs 50,000 trans.

#1
There is lot of discussion about low / high brokerage charges on this forum. but for clarity of purpose can someone calculate and compare TOTAL brokerage charges (brokerage+tax+??) for delivery based buy transaction of Rs 50,000. (not daytrading)
Please compare
ICICI =
Angel =
Sharekhan =
others =
for Rs 50,000 purchase of stocks.
thanks

Yes...while there has been a lot of discussion on Brokerage charges....in all probability continue to be a topic of discussion.....

Illustration you have asked for is impractical.....for the following reasons...

a) A Broker doesn't have fixed brokerage...except for a couple of companies like Zerodha & RK Global

b) Charges such as taxes and etc. across the board is almost the same..except for a couple of headings where it may change from broker to broker..... because the slab/turnover rate a broker may enjoy from the exchanges.

Best way to illustrate what you would like is to come up with Brokerage in percentage charged by each of the companies mentioned.... for purpose of comparison.

a) A Broker doesn't have fixed brokerage
True.
What is % brokerage charged by various brokers? For ordinary turnover of 10L. Can we make list?

Anyway charging % of transaction amount is ridiculous method. It is not mutual fund where there is expense ratio or % of asset. For stocks trading it must be fixed brokerage per transaction irrespective of amount (maybe ok respective of number of shares). Broker's computer have same CPU efforts for processing 10K or 10L order.

Percentage is the prevailing scenario at the moment..... except for a couple that I mentioned earlier.... who charge fixed brokerage per order. Business models of charging percentage is slated to change in the future...perhaps 2-3 years....

With reference to your post marked in bold.... Why is it that a Five Star hotel charges more than 100 bucks for a cup of tea compared to any other small restaurants...... (I am not a broker...:) )
