At what time brokers take a break ?

During the trading session during the day (9.15-3.30) at what time large traders take a break (lunch, tea...) ? Does this break affect trading in terms of orders & volume ?

Large traders take a break every 12 minutes and 15 seconds. Te break lasts for 4 minutes and 9 seconds precisely. This cycle is repeated throughout the trading hours.

If the traders take a break for even a single second more, the profits of their last 3 months is forfeited.

This is a serious question. I am curious to know if large brokers can swing the market. Do not post replies if you do not have proper answer.

though some of them ridiculed u for asking this "silly" question, i too have asked many such questions to well informed players and i got a reply saying that around 11 to 12noon, many in Mumbai go for lunch, since most used to start early in the morning from their homes.

Brokers take a break when they go broke :D

Seriously, with large brokers, they would have a large number of traders working at the same time who could take a break in rotation. For many, I guess the tea, breakfast (maybe even lunch) would be on the desk itself, with one eye on the terminal. Maybe the only real break they take is to answer the call of nature.

Don't know about the others but the dealers at the local Sharekhan take a quick lunch break at 3.30 and are back for afterhour trading.

Do the markets go into "sleep mode" during these breaks (say 11-12) with not much of volatility ?

;) Life would be dull if there are no ups & downs !

I think the big broker and trader has a time ragne to taking lunch break. So I thikn like 12:30 to 1:30 oclock can be the range, I think. So if there is not much action earley in moning than he can take lunch at 12:30 oclock. Or if there is big action (like today) then he will take lunch at 1:30.

So you are right in one way that the number of trader or broker will go down during any time from 12:30 to 1:30 or 2:00 oclock time. Many time we see less moment in this time. Then he all come back by 2:00 oclock and is there till close time so we has drop / rise fast in the market.

This is I thinking. I do not know if this is right or wrong. I also take lunch brake between 1:00 to 2:00 oclock for 30 minites.

Thank you.
