I bought some shares of single company today.

Here is the link of my contract note.

First i bought 105 shares of this company for a said price.Later i realised that lower circuit was lower than my buy price so i bought some more(40) shares at lower price.

Now my question is the brokerage.

You can clearly see that i am charged brokerage twice.

My question is since i am buying shares of same company at same day why should i be charged brokerage twice or why in second transaction.

Suppose i decide to buy a company share (say 100 shares). And company is trading at say 25.Now i want to buy it say 25 shares at 25 and all others at say 22 same day than how should i buy? This way Ill be charge brokerage for 2 transactions .So is this practice valid?

Minimum brokerage is 25 rs and other charges over it for hdfc.

Your contract shows that on 2nd and 3rd trade they have not charged their minimum brokerage which is Rs 25.If they had charged Rs 25 each on both these transaction then you had a case. They have not charged min brokerage there.

Brokerage is charged on every transaction. Under Securities and Exchange Control Act a broker can charge you max 2.5 % of the transaction value. I have checked your first trade and it falls within this limit.

The broker has charged you as per the law and you have no case against him. They have very cleverly designed charging brokerage that they don't get caught in any law........

Sorry friend ,they are within their legal limits and nothing can be done about this contract.

But you can always vote with your feet meaning change your broker if you find their practices unacceptable ( though they may be legally right ).

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Well i am not planning to change the broker as i think at max i have been charged 12 rs more(my actually question was since i have already paid 25 rs and now i want to buy same shares more and that too same day than no extra charges should have been applied).
For 2nd and 3rd transaction actually i had given a single transaction of buy of 40 shares at said price.I guess i got first 24 shares and later 16 shares from different sellers.Similarly some days back i had applied for 105 shares and that day i could get only 55 shares after which the share went high and i was similarly loss in more than 2.5% brokerage mess on transactions(thanks i wasnt aware about this 2.5% rule) .

So suppose i want to buy a company share which is trading at 27 now .I want to get 400 shares at say 25 but i also not sure about downside .So i decide to buy 100 shares at 25 ,next 100 at 23 and another 200 at 21 same day(i know for different day ill be charged 25 buk per transaction as it is more than 0.5%).

And suppose the share closes at 20 same day and all buys triggered than i pay 25 buks minimum brokerage for first transaction and similarly for other transactions too i pay 25 buks?

Right?

Right?
In this case they can charge you Rs 25 each for all 4 transactions. But looking at your contract ,minimum brokerage will mean that they will charge Rs 25 for 1st trade and for balance trades they will charge brokerage as per your brokerage slab accepted between you both.

Best way is write to them and get brokerage structure applicable to your account from them in writing.....we can then find out what exactly they can / cannot charge.
