HELP!! Addition & change Of Names Of Physical Certificates

Hi,

My father has few physical shares in joint name. We have demat account in my name with Sharekhan

The Sequence of Shares Holding and Demat Holding are as below

There are 3 demat accounts with sequence holding as below

DEMAT
Primary Holder Secondry Holder Third Holder
Mother Father Son
Father Son Mother
Son Mother Father

Where as the Certificates are with sequence holding as below

Share Certificates
Primary Holder Secondary Holder
Mother Father
Father Mother
Son Mother

My questions are

1) How Can I add the names and change sequence in holding of share certificates to match the demat account.

2) can this be done directly via Sharekhan or do i need to contact the Registrars and have this done.

3)What are the details i will have to provide Sharekhan or the registrars.

also in once of the share certificates my mothers name is her maiden name how can i change that to her married name.I have their Marriage Certificate,.

I don not want to open more demat accounts. so please advise accordingly

Adding name and deleting name ( except in case of demise of a holder ) requires procedure of transfer to be followed.....it just cannot be added as we add/delete name in bank account. You have to fill up transfer deed, affix stamps....and send the signed deed along with certificates to effect new manes on the share certificates.....this is a lengthy procedure....risk of signature mismatch and loss of documents in transit.

Best alternative is open multiple demat accounts in the same names/style and sequence combination as they appear in share certificates and get all shared dematted....then get them transferred to one account ( if you do not have any capital gains issues ) and close all other accounts....this is much safe and preferred way . Expence wise it may be a bid more than transfer but much safe and hassles free....

The name of your mother can be changed by sending her marriage certificate and a school leaving certificate/birth certificate ( to establish her maiden name )....this is not a transfer case so no transfer formalities.....
