Dear Zerodha,

When will the mutual fund thing work with NSE now & can we place orders in SIP variant too?? What will be your charges for the same ?

The MF platform on NOW is not yet active. We will keep you informed about the progress. For now, we allow trading on Equities and F&O. :)

Hi

Why are you not giving margin for the stock LOVABLE. I tried to buy it and it asks for full amount 1:1, no 1:5 margin even :(
Why's that, you don't love lovable?

Hahaha! I wish we could give margins for lovable just looking at the business they are in... Unfortunately, the boss thinks different. :)

kindly help in using SL-M order
Here's how you can place a SL-M order:
Let us presume you want to put in a buy SL-M order
1. Press F1 to open the 'buy' window.
2. In the order type, select 'SL-M'.
3. On the second line, 'Tr. Price' gets active. Put in your trigger price.
4. Click on Submit. Click on okay. You're done.

Hope this helps. :)

But you didn't answer my question. You say that you give 1:10 margin for all F&O stocks and 1:5 for all other stocks! Then why no margin for this?

We give 10 times margin for all stocks that are in F&O and we also give 5 times margin for most other stocks. For some stocks, including Loveable, we do not give margins because these are still considered risky bets on an intraday basis. We will study the stock for some more time and then decide if margins are to be given or not.

I have decided 2 try Zerodha but lastly this query.

1. As I am an only option trader, so if I have say just 5K amount in my acc. Am I getting margin of 50K.

2. Short Selling Nifty option, can I short with 5K in acc. as u r providing 50K margin for intra day?

Hi,
I've read that you provide 1:10 margin for stocks traded in F&O.
Does it apply to Futures segment of the stock as well, or Cash alone?

For example, UCOBANK Futures has a lot size of 2000 and April expiry is at 119 while spot is at 118.85 for today. Margin requirement for one lot is around 37,600. If I have 50,000 in my account, would it mean that I can buy 2 lots of UCOBANK Futures with it?

Also, can I short Stock Futures as well ? I guess I will need to have the required margin to hold it overnight as exposure is only for intraday.

So, what exactly would I get intraday margin funding by Zerodha? Cash or Futures?

Aside, lets say I want to buy VijayaBank or YesBank Futures whose margin requirement is above 55,000 per lot. Assuming I have 30,000 in my account, would I still be able to trade in the respective Futures?

Thanks in advance and sorry to bother you again.

stoch_guy, from whatever little I know, Zerodha does not provide any margin for Options. Indiabulls and Religare had offered me about three times margin for options if I maintained a certain amount of money in my dmat account apart from paying an upfront brokerage. Options being totally dumb money with fairly complex valuations, particularly puts, you wouldn't want to get into a mess if the trade goes against you.
Intraday margin to short one lot of nifty option is about 11-12k and to hold the position overnight is 30k.
