What is the meaning for : INTRDAY and DELIVERY

#1
Hi,
I am new to this site. I recently have my Motilal Oswal account opened.
I have a few basic questions. Would someone please answer these for me.

I am basically interested in holding shares for longer terms (1 to 5 years or so).

in the BUY screen of MotilalOswal I see, Product type as DELIVERY, BNST, INTRADAY.

I understood that BNST is Buy Now Sell Tommorrow something like that.

What is INTRADAY and DELIVERY. Is there any difference when it comes to buying shares of XYZ stock
for long term (say 2 or 4 years holding period).

I am a beginner, please help me with these terms (terminology).

Is there any difference in buying INTRADAY and DELIVERY. Is there any difference for commission for INTRADAY and DELIVERY. I have my SBI demat and Motilal Oswal accounts recently opened.

please help

thanks

If you buy a stock today, it will be delivered (credited) into your demat account after tomorrow's market hours and your bank account also will be debited at the same time. This is the 'DELIVERY' mode of a transaction.

But if you buy a stock today and sell the same today itself, this transaction is not reflected in your demat account and your bank account will be credited/debited only to the extent of your profit/loss in the transaction. This is 'INTRADAY'.

If you buy a stock now (today) and sell the same tomorrow, your bank account will show the buy transaction today and the sell transaction tomorrow (net effect is your profit/Loss), but this is not reflected in your demat account, as you have sold before the stock came into your demat account. This is BNST.

The brokerage charges are different in each of the case.

You may go through the help provided by your broker for more information about the process of making these transactions.

Happy and safe trading.
