Interactive Brokers India

#1
Interactive brokers have recently launched in india and have an indian co.in website launched recently.

Is anyone here planning to open an account with them and how good are they as a broking firm. It is still unclear if you can trade indian markets from their site.

yes you can trade indian stocks/futures
their trading platform TWS is way technologically advanced than
any other platforms in india. you can write your strategies in java/c++
and auto execute them

Their charges seems to be a little bit higher. Their brokerage in Fno is Rs.60 per lot but you have to buy 2 lots minimum otherwise therwise their brokerage is Rs 100 per lot.

IB is going to enter first as a market maker, then open up its doors to the general trading population.

IB's business model is to serve the really deicated and experienced investor, with a sizable account size, and provide access to global markets. I know people who have used IB before, and it's really good, but it's not for everyone. Just keep that in mind before jumping ship!!!

I am trading with them in US market and I think their pricing on options are very good. IB platform is good & charts are better than ODIN.

Hi msultan! I currently live in the US and day trade stocks/ETFs on NYSE/Nasdaq. I was wondering whether I can do the same from India as well as I frequently travel. I can open an account with IB India. I think short-term capital gain tax would be lower if I have an Indian account as it would be taxed at the same rate as income tax (30% + 10% surcharge = ~33%) whereas the short-term stock gains are taxed at 38.6% federal + state tax = ~40% in the US.

My concern though is the technology part. I suspect there could be significant server lag if I do it from India and speed of execution is the key in day trading. What has been your experience?

If any other member has experience in day trading US stocks from India, please offer your comments.

Thanks!
