Well, not any details, but you can take an account with one of the online financial services providers, like RMoney, etc. and trade in CFDs. I haven't done any trading myself, although I have a CFD account, with CMS, UK. I guess the only brokerage is the spread. Can other members join in and enlighten us?

Mozillan ,

Thx for ur info. I started a similar thread "Trading in US markets". Havent got any response so far!!

We can also open a account directly with US brokers like "xpresstrade", "Interactive brokers", "tradestation", etc. But i dont have any idea on comission's, tax liabilities, fund transfer , etc.

I was hoping some member would be able to guide us on this as well as on pro's/con's of trading in US markets.

Regards ,
Stumper.

Dear Stumper,

For funds transfer, one has to fill in a simple form (for RBI) and can transfer funds online (Contact your bankers). For brokerage, etc., it would be advisable to visit the respective website (of the trading house) and read thoroughly the terms and conditions, because some brokers charge a nominal (0.05%) brokerage, but that is subject to a minimum of, say 5 pounds, which is clearly excessive for us Indians.

Hi Mozillan,

Thanks for your info. Let me ask my bank abt this fund trasnfer form.

I belive reliance allows us to open a CFD account, their brokerage is around 0.0185% (one way) for intraday in Index futures. Not sure abt margin requirement. Will it also need for me to have the forex remitance form filled up?
Do you think the charges by reliance are resonable?

Dear Stumper,
I don't think the charges matter as much as the spread. It all depends on what the spread is. The lower it is, the safer for us.

things are pretty sketchy here...contact your CA. and yeah today only RBI directed that resident Indians cannot use remittances abroad to fund margins for currency trade. we live in a crappy world driven by whims in the name of protecting investors et al.

Hi Traderji ,

If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. As a trader, we are looking for additional opportunities. Being already in US markets, you can hedge by trading in Indian markets. Vice versa for us.

Cheers.
