I have been using ABN AMRO for the past couple of weeks.

Charges are: .01% for intraday, .5% otherwise.
You might check out Indiabulls etc, for their charges and only
then take a call. Note: I know people who'd go to ABNAMRO
for intraday and to Indiabulls for others.

Apart from that there are account opening charges etc which
are not very high.

The downsides are (that I figured out, recently):
[1] You cannot go short
[2] Nor can you trade in commodities.

One more thing is: they are relatively new in this business,
the system behaves erratically at times, might be a pain for
serious users.

Customer service is decent, at least so far it has been easy for me.

Disclaimer: Being a newbie, I have perhaps not been able to
answer all your queries; so keep posting and I'll try chipping in.

You mean...0.10% for intraday...right? You wrote 0.01%.
And, is this intraday fee chanrged on BOTH legs of transaction? Or just once?

I meant 0.01%. On both legs.
Call them up, their number is on their webpage
and confirm. You can get discounts as well,
on other transactions, but you've to bargain.
