Zerodha Annual Charges

As I understand from Zerodha's website, AMC of Rs. 300 is applicable. I am checking ledger details for the last financial year and I see that AMC charges have been deducted twice as follows:

1) 23/05/2016 JV Being AMC charges for IL&FS Demat account 433.15
2) 29/06/2016 JV Being DP AMC Charges Debited as per consent 427.43

I have not executed a single trade through Zerodha for the past financial year and I am keeping this account only as backup for now. I have sent an email to customer support of Zerodha just now. I'll appreciate if anybody here can explain these annual charges in the meantime.

I called customer care at 080-40402020 today since they have not responded to ticket yet. Their customer care executive told me that this needs to be looked into by back-end team and will be responded by end of day.

I am disappointed with the level of service received Zerodha. It should not take this long to answer a query about charges they deduct from client's account.

I haven't received any response from zerodha till now. Is their customer service usually this slow?
I received prompt response from Zerodha team (though i am very new to them). I always open support ticket in Zerodha support center: http://support.zerodha.com/ and they promptly got back. Unfortunately Zerodha doesn't have a toll-free number as other brokers like Sharekhan, so ticket is a cheaper way for me, unless it is really something critical.

After yet another reminder yesterday morning, they did respond yesterday afternoon. It appears that they "forgot" to charge Annual fees for one of the previous years and hence they charged the remaining dues last year at one go.

Even if they forgot to charge some fees in one of the previous years, it is troubling to know that they can simply debit your trading balance without so much as informing the customer that they are doing so.

RKSV AMC is zero plus zero account opening charges. Everything is free there. Only 20 rupees per trade is charged by them. Also they have very reliable system and infra.

Thank you BearsTruth. I checked and now have filled online application form with RKSV. They confirmed that there are no annual maintenance charges whatsoever and verified the same through other third party websites.

Disappointed by Zerodha's service, I have already sent account closure request form to their postal address. Also, I did not feel like spending over Rs. 800 as annual maintenance charges for a backup account which I have not used over a year.
