What you want in a new online trading platform

#1
HI, guys
I am a project manager for building new online trading platform, so I thought it would be best to know from people who daily interact with different platforms.

Our team think that there is a massive gap, in the technology for online trading platforms, there can be lot of things that can be done to allow user to make a informed decision.

So what are the things you think that online trading platform should have and how much you will be willing to pay for platform like that per month.

Thanks for your response,
OK what you think of feature where you can create portfolios and assign a budget to each stock with in that portfolio?

If you wish for some feature do let me know.

1. Stability ( no crashes, no disconnections/automatic reconnection without popups)
2. API support for full automated trading - place limit, stoploss limit, market orders, cancel orders, change quantity, change stoploss, change everything that is changeable
3. Cover order and bracker order should support all types of entry order like SL-M, SL-limit, market, limit.
4. Ability to push the terminal data live into amibroker for charting
5. Amibroker to trading platform api bridge that supports all types of orders
6. Good quality data feed

Plus take a look at interactive brokers trading platform. That should summarize most of what we need.

Nest Plus API and NEST-XL queries

:) My broker has provided me Nest Trader and I have registered for Nest Plus Services Free Trial for one year. Now my broker is reluctant in helping me out and no-reply of emails from Omnesys either, for below queries.

According to this webpage, http://algoji.com/excel-automated-trading/, Nest Plus API costs about Rs. 300/pm but then from where to subscribe for that (through broker or directly from Omnesys), and what are the usages? Is it possible to fully-automate trading in MS Excel using that API?

Another product of Omnesys is, http://www.omnesysindia.com/nestxl.html, NEST-XL. Does anyone has an idea about this, as how it works, features and costs? Since there was no response from Omnesys? :p

Pros and Cons of using MS Excel as trading platform/backtester for simple strategy execution VS commonly known trading platform/backtester available in the market!! :(

A Lightweight oms with an api. Gets an order from linking app, if client semi-automated, asks for confirmtion, if automated executes directly, replies to connecting app and writes everything to a log-file. Auto-connection, bo, co, full two way integration with amibroker and other similar scripting apps and detailed api for direct language programming for python, c#. Let the trader choose & get out of the way!

If you have a full fledged trading software, hive off the above parts, to build a lightweight & to-the-point gateway for chart based & algo traders. Don't force traders to unnecessarily run your full app, if they don't wish to use it in favour of their favourite software/charting platform or coding language.
