Default Option trading on Geojit

I am looking for an F&O trading account with live quotes and fast execution speed. I prefer EXE instead of web based application. I currently have Investsmart SmartTrade and have been using it for over 6 months. It works pretty well for futures trading. Recently, I moved into option trading and am facing some very basic issues. If I buy a call option it blocks marging money instead of just debiting the premium amount. Similarly, when squaring off the bought call option it asks for margin.

I called ILFS and they say they are working on it but don't have a timeframe for fixing it. I am considering moving to another platform. I currently pay minimum brokerage of 500 but find Geojit 3000 per month (for EXE based platinum) too expensive.

1. Has anyone used EXE based Geojit platform? How is it? Specifically in F&O do you face similar margin problems like ILFS?
2. Is the minimum brokerage negotiable?

nitin,
I am trading with geojit, also I trade options mostly. For option traders geojit is a boon, geojit is a god .Since the brokerage is only 75Rs per month without any volume comittments or minimum brokerage.

I am using their gold platform,Its very very fast,I have seen the ILFS tradeanywhere.exe platform and even used it.So to give a better idea I can say that geojits gold platform is far better than exe based of ILFS, tradeanywhere.exe.

Gold platform of geojit is web based, but everything is fast.Order execution, quotes etc all fast.

for any help do contact me,

Hi Trader31339,
Thanks for this info, really appreciate it. I have also tried SmartInvest which is a web (java) based almost real-time quote system but generally I have found exe based systems better. Geojit might be different as you mention. Do you know if Geojit offers a demo?

BTW, do you know of any good resources on option trading?

Hi Trader31339,
One more thing, have you tried buying an call option and then selling a call option to square of your position. How does Geojit handle margins in this case? As I mentioned above, ILFS has a problem with that. I want to make sure (before I sign up) that I don't end up with the same problem in Geojit.

Nitin,
the problem u have with ILFS with sq off calls and puts is not with geojit. It is easy.I always sq off my Calls and puts so can say that there is no problem

yeh exe based are always better.Even geojits exe is better than web.But 3k is costly for me.

Resource for options: Now whatever I am going to say If u feel correct digest it else vomit it but dont argue.
The resource / info avaible on net for options , yeh specially for options, is of no use at all from trading point of view.I am trading options but never used the gamma beta etc. Also I trade naked options.I think such theoritical models dont have any place in real market and so I dont use it.( PERSONAL VIEW). So my trades are based on total technicals, dont spoil ur mind like i did few years agoi seraching for options resource

Rahul trader,
geojit is compartively better option NOW for me, I change my dress once I feel stale with that.So is with my broker.Once I get a better option I shift no harm in doing so.Indiabulls software is good, but ppl are not my exp.
geojit have a toll free tele trading centre and extra advantage.
