Default Physical Share transfer

I have physical shares of a company in the joint name of my ex-wife and me. I was divorced in 1997 and since then we have not been in touch as I travelled for a few years thereafter. She does not reside at the same residence I last knew as her address.
It was a divorce with mutual consent on amicable terms and there were no financial obligations between us.

I have a demat a/c.
How do I get the shares transferred to my name? If I have to send the share certificates to the company for transfer, what documents do I submit so that the company will transfer the share on my name (single holder).

Also do brokers charge any amount for share transfer. I have shares on my parents name also which I wish to transfer and demat. If so how much are their nominal charges?

Appreciate all the help I can get on this.

For share transfer in physical form, share transfer form signed by all the joint holders is to be sent along with the share certificate to the registrar of the company. There are no charges for the transfer except for a nominal stamp fee. In case of your wife, since you are not aware of her whereabouts, I am not sure what procedure is to be followed.
