Question Newbie Questions: Plz Help...

Hello members! I am new to this forum as u can see from the no. of posts made by me! I am also new to investing though have a lots of interest in this field. I decided that i am going to join u all in investing in shares.

I have read many online articles about opening trader a/c and demat a/c but i really cant decide on which one. I mean first i thought that ICICIdirect will be fine as i read that their features are good, though the brokerages are quite high. But decided not to after knowing that the site is very slow and often hangs!

Then i decided on HDFCsec. But came to know that its service is very poor of many fronts.

Now i have decided on IndiaBulls after searching and reading posts of this forum.
Plz let me decide on a broker.
I would also like to know how good will be a local sub-broker in our neighbourhood? How to find out whether they are actually good or not?

I will be mainly investing and not much trading- suppose say will invest in a company for about 1 week or few months before moving on to other if I hear good about that company. I will also be applying for IPOs.

Now plz suggest me a good company for my trading a/c and demat a/c.

Also tell me few books which are absolutely a must read before joining this community-share investing or trading. As i am a student i really cant waste much time reading many books on this field.
I hope u all experienced traders will surely help me.

Waiting for ur reply.

Thanks!!

Whoever you go for, they should be better than sharekhan. I had an account with them, I could not get it working, the charts working, had login problems for weeks. Yes WEEKS. And they could not even help with it.

Not tried India Bulls though.

Also just a word about your comment on being a student and not being able to waste time reading books. If you are serious about trading I would rethink that if i were you. If you dont spend time learning, you will surely end up wasting money. Its upto you to decide whether reading to save your money is a waste of time or not.

Good Luck

Dear techani....

It is all experience that teaches buddy!!!

No reply could suffice your query! Actually there is "NO" broker working to serve you...They act like serving you doing their "BUSINESS"...

So if you are pure newbie, please go for ICICI as they are "assumed" not to do Shylock business in your DP a/c.

Better will be consultation of "local" traders. Each firm is good in one area and could be worse in another area(may be due to temperature-humidity variations)

I just tell u to go for any national level brokerage!

Thats all
period....
