I RECOMMEND u to see the demo available in the icicidirect which would help u to use the software properly. also pls go through fao - where most of your doughts are answered.

there are three types of trade:
1. spot - cash delivery - this trade stocks can be sold at btst on the following 2 days.
2. margin - this will hold 25 to 56 or 75% of the value of the stock u buy from your limit ( i.e. allocation u made for secondary markets) the position will be automatically squard off ( sold by them self) if there is loss more than 16 % or else your margin is not enough to hold the position. in this ase u have to increse margin.
3. marginplus - same as above - the main difference is u an convert the positions to delivery in margin trade by 2.30 or 3 pm before they squar off . margin plus includes the compulsory cover - stop loss price which will prevent erosion of your funds. this is more requirdin most scrips like rpl - rnrl and adlabs - which would fall and goes up more than 20 to 40 % of the current price on any day.

hope u would understood the game.

How can i sell something which i bought in cash? do I need to use btst? ICICI don't allow me to sell using cash acct. sometimes i have to wait for delivery and then sell it. May be i didn't look properly but isn't BTST is kind of margin account?

WHY DONT YOU TAKE HELP FROM YOUR LOCAL ICICIDIRECT BRANCH ?JUST CALL THEM AND ASK AS MANY QUESTIONS..... ANYWAYS GO TO EQUITY, CLICK STOCK LIST, THEN SELECT OPTION BTST, CHECK THE LIST . IF THE STOCK YOU WANT TO TRADE IS LISTED THERE THEN GO FOR IT.. AFTER BUYING GO TO SECURITY PROJECTION.. YOU CAN SEE THE OPTION BTST THERE... SIMPLY CLICK TO SQUARE OFF YOUR POSITIONS... OK?????

BTST is a facility provided to sell some Selected Scrips before the actual Delivery in Cash Trade. In the normal course, it takes 2 days to credit the Delivery to the DeMat A/c. Obviously selling is not permitted till the credit is effected.

Hence there is no such thing as BTST Buy. Only BTST Sell, that to limited to select few.

Also one should realise risks of BTST Sell. If Cash Trade Delivery defaults, you could be in a mess!!

May be it should have been SWRD ( Sell Without Receiving Delivery) rather than BTST.

MarginPlus is Buy/Sell DayTrade Product with a corresponding Sell/Buy Cover Order. If the Cover Order is not executed by the EOD, it will be squared off at Market Price before EOD.

You can Buy/Sell only at Market Price and it must be coupled with Cover Order.

For ex. Infy is Trading @ 1500. You want to buy 10 Shares. Place the order as follows:

Stock : INFTEC
Quantity : 10

Stop Loss Trigger Price : 1470.00 ( Your Choice, but less than LTP)
Limit Price : 1390.00 ( 5 % below Trigger Price)

Trigger to Limit Gap is Scrip Specific ( 3 - 5 %).

You can close this at any time at the CMP or

it it will be squared automatically at the EOD or

as and when Stop Loss gets triggered.
