A Rookie Question

#1
Hello guys,

I'm a total rookie in the investor world. My uncle wanted to transfer some shares to me . So now I have to change my regular SBI account to Demat account. I have a few questions

1; His account is in oriental bank of commerce. So is there any hassles to transfer shares between two different banks ( mine is SBI ), or it will be easy if I start an account in oriental bank of commerce itself.

2; Is there any transfer rates for this procedure?. Will they apply some kind of tax for this kind of transfer ??. He is not gaining any money by transfer. He is just giving it to me for free :D

3; Do I need to start an online trading account with firms like sharekhan, geojit etc too while I'm converting my bank account to demat account ??. which firm is better according to you guys ??

Sorry if these questions sounds too naive. I don't have too much knowledge in this department ...... Thnx for reading :)

Assuming your uncle is experienced investor knowing the ropes in holding the shares and conducting transactions with them, his help would be the best service to bring you up to the speed. What I can definitely say there shouldn't be too much fees charges for that, only those for establishment of account, that's it. Personally I trade with FSC regulated broker Hotforex, it is substantially easier to join worldwide markets through them. :)
