Guidance needed

Hi,
I am newbie can some one guide to a method or book that would introduce me to a system where i can buy stocks for a period of couple of months.

I am not keen in trading on daily or weekly basis specifically based on technical indicators.

My aim to invest, wait for a while and sell them. Not wait many years say couple of months or max 1 year

Invest in a mutual fund.... Easiest and safest way......

Go for diversified fund which follow cnx 100 and 200.... yes i think through sharekhan you can buy MF's, even from you saving bank account. Do some research.....

Anyone can you let me know how can i extract following information ..

Total number equity shares whose deliveries was taken on a day and total nose of shares traded on a day. Just to clarify if volume of day as 1000 it means it will have stock which were trade i.e. day trading plus stock whose deliveries were taken right?
