I think it is good for learning but has it's own flaws. As we know that trading is more of psychology/emotions than the technicals, and no matter how sincere we be with the virtual money, our psychology doesn't remain the same as in the actual trading with real money. This is one of the reasons why people profiting in paper trade still loose while trading live with the same method/strategy

Hello,

its depends upon how many mistakes u made while trading real....if u made none u will profit as u do on virtual.....so the the answer is with urself.... and ur capability of controlling emotions...this kind of questions will only come when someone is frustrated about trading....don't be disappointed...u will slowly learn the process involved...if ur committed.

Regards,

Yes Biswajit.. look at how you traded instead of looking at profits. Look at things like..

1. How many total traders ?
2. Shorts vs Logs
3. Largest gain in a day
4. Largest loss in a day
5. # of continous losses/gains
6. Good entry but no profits
7. Bad entries but profits

and many more questions like this. Basically.. you try to analyze whether your taking the trades right or not. Also, how well are you managing your losses. etc. These things will overall give you picture of whether you are ready to trade real money or not if no.. then what is the area for improvement. :)

imo better thing is to trade with only few shares, you will lose a small amount but consider that as a tuition fees, besides emotions(most important) there are things like not getting fill or screwing, forgetting to cancel orders that you cant learn to handle in virtual trading.

really difficult to say without knowing what the trader is actually doing... imo higher timeframe trader is more likely to be close to paper profits than a shorter timeframe trader. If you havnt really traded before then result is most likely to be -ve or breakeven. Focus on skills you need to develop rather than how much % returns you can make in a month.

Best is you can trade with very small amount of shares in liquid shares like SBIN or TATASTEEL. Virtual trading has zero impact after testing phase over real trading.

virtual trading can be done for one month to calculate how your system is performing.

Real trading is quite different so don't get carried over by virtual trading results.
