Sir,


what we have to fill in the column ''DEPOSITORY ACCOUNT DETAILS''. I have a saving account in Punjab National Bank but the details of which are to be filled in '' BANK ACCOUNT DETAILS''.so what we are supose to fill in Depository account details Or can we left it blank ? or DP account will be opened by them or i have to first open dp account with pnb.

does they entertain pnb bank as i haven't seen the name of this bank on their website?

you may keep depository field blank as demat is not opened yet.

any bank which has NEFT transfer capability is ok.

axisbank and hdfcbank is preferred because you dont have to pay fund transfer charges

does this mean that zerodha will open my DP account. something like saving bank account of PNB and DP account of Zerodha ? Correct me if I am wrong.

if yes, then what will be the procedure to fund our DP account. we have to put money in our saving account or there's something else.

Senior members please help :confused:

DP account is to keep your shares in electronic form ...
if you filled up dp forms provided by zerodha ..then yes they open DP for you ...
you dont need to fund dp ...whatever shares you buy will go into your DP

hello Sunny sir.


as you said they will open a dp Account for me if i want.if i want to
transfer funds into my dp account can i do it via nfet through my pnb
bank account. and one more thing dp number given by them will be of which bank
as in my opinion nfet can only be done from one bank to another.

and what's the procedure to link that pnb account with that dp account.

Guys i am complete novice. Kindy help.

Dear Frnd,

Pls try to understand the mechanism of trading.

DP is just a place Shares are stored in electronic form. No need to Fund Inward or Outward.

You will be placing ur funds with broker. When u buy shares, ur broker settles seller by paying from ur ledger a/c and keeps the recd shares in DP a/c. For selling, he takes out from DP A/c and delivers to the buyer and credit the cash proceeds to ur ledger a/c.

Hope this clears ur doubts.

Dp is account to keep share ...so you dont fund this ...

you fund your trading account and when you buy shares they will in your DP account ..

your DP will be linked with trading account

now i am filling up the application and came across the same DP column on page7 and stuck there. by going through your answers to the question of Abhi132 i also will leave the column blank. thank you all. :)

most people appear to take CDSL and NSDL as some kind of a bank account including me. when we are not doing anything by leaving those columns blank;why they are having it there in the application in first place.

to link existing Dp account ..if we want ..instead of opening new one...
