Fianacial Year notations

I have read in a few articles like 22% growth in earnings CAGR over FY09-12E. What does the term FY09-12E mean, is it from Financial year 2009-2012 earnings? If so why are the comparing against a 3 year period, why not simple FY 10 Earnings.

Also I have seen other intervals like FY08-11E,FY09-11E.Please clarify.

Yes, Financial year 2009- 2012 E-expectations. Usually the "so called analysts" want to justify the price rating of any stock, use 3 year period.
Also to show the growth is sustainable for atleast 3 yrs .
