When and how do securities come into the demat?

Hi, I am very new to trading. I recently opened a demat and online trading account with ICICI bank & ICICI Direct. I had applied for the IPO of NHPC through the form. I would like to know how and when will the securities be transfered into my account and when can I sell it. Has anyone filled the IPO form and used ICICI direct to do trading?

u can expect the credit of alloted shares around Aug end. the shares are likely to be listed in the first week of sep'09. when they are listed and trade starts, u can sell the shares, if u get allotment.
