HI : Need Some Help Here

#1
Hello Guys,

I have just completed Engineering (Electrical) but am immensely
interested in making a future in the share market industry. As an
analyst, broker etc. I am ready to start at beginner levels but I am
not getting any responses from anywhere, which I think is coz I am an
engineer by profession.

Can you please advise me, how should I go about applying or what I
need to do to be considered seriously, like some course etc.
I hope this is not the wrong place to start the thread.

Thanks and Regards
Abhishek

Hi Abhishek87 ,
Doing your MBA or Cfa would be better if you consider a job as a Financial Analyst or so.

If you want to trade on your own learn both Technical analysis & fundamental Analysis.

For trading using technical analysis a Lot of book links ,articles etc are available in this forum.

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot Amikid, but isn't there anywhere I can land up with my state coz I am interested in doing an MBA after some work ex only.
Dear Abhishek,

I don't think you must get a degree in finance if you want to trade or to get into broking.

You need academic credentials only if you need a financial professional position in Big corporates.

First let me tell you few things.
Being and Analyst, Broker and Trader are entirely three different walks of life.
Usually beginners think they are all go hand by hand. The truth is not.

An Analyst has wide range of role where a trader always fails when he go and go on learning researching at the cost of his trading time, trading energy. I don't mean that a trader need not learn things. In fact, an analyst could just read the market wheres the trader must play the market. That makes a great deal of difference.

Broking business is entirely different and in my opinion, it is other side of the world. Your responsibilities as a broker is quite different. It is all about compliance, customer care and competing in broking business.

But the basic similarity is you must learn the market in all the three positions. After that point, the perception about market, the role and responsibilities are entirely different.

I suggest you to learn about these three occupations and come to a conclusion. Find out what do you really need?

For all reasons, you are in a right place and warm welcome.

Cheers

PS : Being an Engineer is good. I know living examples. You can always learn the market in informal way and that is best suited for one, in my own opinion

HI gsalvadi,

Thanks mate :)

Now the thing is, I am interested in trading, so I am most probably going to be a trader for sure BUT the problem is landing a job. See, I believe that the best way to learn about the market is through being at a place where the Market is your job. Now, being a broker is not exactly what I have in mind after reading your post and I believe I am comfortable with being either of an analyst or trader ( as a job position).

So, any ideas how do I go about getting a job in the same ?

PS :I know this sounds foolish but I am not at all interested in making a career out of the engg. field ... :)

Abishek,

You ideas are not at all seem foolish. You are clear I think.
Just after reading you wrote "..landing a job..." something came to my mind.

There is a certification course in National Stock Exchange (NSE). You have to pay exam fee, they will send you study material. You have to take an online examination.

Once you pass the exam, they give you a certificate. That is the official license on which every broker runs his or her business. I suggest you to take those exams. Model tests are available.

There are different exams. Take "Dealers Module-Equity" first. And "Dealers Module - Derivatives". You have two licenses. With them, you must be able to find a job. Do not be concerned about anything else, take a job in good, reputed broking house. The course will teach you regulatory system, how the entire market runs, what are all the organisations involved and how the entire market goes on.

if you get a job in a broking house, you have good chance to learn market. A good thing is, you have a chance to learn market participants. You will learn more from the traders about the market.

This is only my suggestion. Think yourself and take decision according to your own, personal situation

For details visit nseindia dot com and check NCFM section.

Good luck
