Hope you have done the ground work and understand it well that Option and futures are leveraged instruments and they can seriously damage your account.
Taking bearish position thru option has controlled limit. You can buy the put options by paying certain premium. If price goes against you then, the most you will loose is your whole premium. Option pricing is not as easy as stock price. Beware that you might not make any money even if the price goes in your favour. This is due to time decay. If can sell futures contract to take bearish position. But this has unlimited risk if price go against you. This will certainly require margin money. If you are new to this field, do stay away from these instruments for the time being, do some paper trading and obsreve how they really work. Once you are successful in paper trade, then put your real money. Happy Trading. |

Hi Frd,
As suggested please know the technical and fundamental of the underlying stock before you short. Also as said you need to have the margin money before shorting. Taking a put option is bennificial while dealing in a bear market and taking a call option is appriopriate while bullish. My suggestion is not to short right now atleast on ICICI. Regards, Sunny |
