This method of trading is between daytrading and long-term trading. Typical time of swing trade is from 1 day to 5 days.
Swing traders, wait for confirmation that swing-bottom or swing-top is formed, then they buy near the swing-low and take profit when swing-high is made and market turns down.

Some people also call swing-high/low as pivot-high/low.
