Default newbie : how to buy and sell share icicidirect

i have purchased 5 shares of tcs using icicidirect....

i went to order book : it shows as executed... i got a mail stating Order and Trade confirmations.... but i cannot yet see it in demat allocation of the icicidirect.....

how can i confirm that the trade is done.....
what are the brokerage for icicidirect.....
how can i sell the shares....
how can i buy and sell the shares in same day without playing in margins....
finally, does any other formalities are to be done after buying the share... like giving address to deliver or something like that.....

You must've bought those share with cash. Cash transaction means you will have delivery of the shares. If you check your Security Projections, it will tell you the expected date when the shares will be credited to your demat account. Normally its T + 2 days .

If you want to buy and sell shares in the same day, you'll have to use margin trading.

No other formality is required as it must be done by ICICIDirect while opening your account.

Tread safely .. Best of luck ..

Click on the TradeBook link and choose the relevant date, you should get all the details including the brokerage.

You can view your holding by clicking on the Portfolio Tab and then click on the Equity link there. Your current holdings will be displayed there.

For selling the shares you need to use the Demat Allocation link in the Equity Tab and allocate the share before you can sell.

You can click on the Security Projection link in the Equity Tab to find out when the shares will be credied to your account

Hope this helps

thanks people... for the fast reply..... got sorted the things and had a sigh of relief.... just small query...

delivery means update in my dmat account right and not actual delivery of certificates...??

can i use margin trading for buying a share today but not necessary selling it today... may be in 2-3 days or maybe after a week...??

Margin positions are to be covered before 3 PM (or earlier),if you plan to carry over the position then you can choose the option "Convert to Delivery" and pay for the carry over shares in full

I am not sure about Margin Plus. But if you have used the Margin option while placing the order the following applies. After the order is executed, go to Open Position link, there you will find 3 links for Square Off, Convert to Delivery, Add Margin--choose the one you need. All this you will find as long as the position is open. If ICICI has closed your position you cannot convert that to delivery

does icicidirect takes no brokerage on margin deals...???? my tradebook shows brokerage shows nil....

i think this is good... i played for margin first time catiously... and was constantly worried about the brokerage fees taking away all my profits.....can someone confirm...??? i just earned 220 by dealing in TCS 10 shares only.....

28-Jan-2008 TCS Buy 5 830.90 4,154.50 0.00
28-Jan-2008 TCS Buy 5 827.00 4,135.00 0.00
