This FAQ / wiki buildup is appreciated.

I had some shares of Refex from its IPO that seem to have done well. When trying to sell them from my HDFC trading account, it queried: "Symbol is traded in TT segment. Do you want to place order?" The question: what is particular about the TT segment that this confirmation was requested.

At a broader level, any insights, peculiarities or gotchas or lesser known details about the various segments of BSE would be welcome.

TIA.

I need information (so does most newbies) on the abberivated terms in Odin client/ or a general trading screen. If some experts can provide link or details regarding the following terms, it would be helpful.

OPT.TYP
ORD.TYP - RL, SL
STR.PRICE
DISC QTY
TRIG PRICE
Protection %
Product type - MARGIN , DELIVERY
Validity - DAY, IOC, EOSESS, EOTODY, EOSTLM (what are the difference between them?)

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

What are "Shares as Margin (ICICIDIRECT)"
i mean i understand that we pledge shares to icici bank but what happens to the shares.
I have pledged my Reliance natural shares to ICICIDIRECT and with the amount given bought petronet LNG futures (Feb)..
what has happened to my shares of RNRL

Hmm well honestly we need opinion of some expert trader here....but I can help you gaining difference of trade types:-
First is Spot i.e. regular trade where you see a script, pay for it and job done, in this category you can but the script in morning and sell it off in evening.....whereas in TT you can square off the trade same day as under "trade to trade (TT)" before selling you have to get the delivery first which generally takes a day or sometimes two. Please go ahead and discover future trading of scripts also.

Sorry bro, wrong section....Just follow any good trader or better call ICICI and get clarification as you can see we are working under a different mission on this thread. Btw I don't think you can open a Dmat directly if you are not an Indian citizen or trying to transfer off shore funds for your transactions.

hmmm, please do some search for these minor issues and you will see a complete (exclusive) thread running on this issue here
http://www.traderji.com/brokers-dema...vs-5paise.html

And for sake of opinion if not planning heavy intra day trading go ahead with ICICI...at least for beginners its the best.

nothing will happen as such but if and when market will start moving against your call you will need to bring in more cash to maintain the require marigin to absorb loss, and in the event of your not being able to do so, they will sell of your RNRL shares to settle losses and square off your future's position.

Dear lalit, this generally happens in case of regulatory guidance to avoid excessive speculation trading or otherwise, though not following the GMR derivative so can't comment and will ask you to investigate further at your own.

No words to thanks for support and looking forward for creating history soon!
Keep posting......

SB

This one I think I know...

BC - Book closure
ND - No delivery

The moneypore website has an explanation here (in their classroom section on page IcClassroom.htm).

Due to Job commitments I need to travel full week and hence will only have an irregular access to net.
So request all of you to carry on in the same zest and I'll be right back on 28th Jan.
Till then Happy learning!
Regards,
SB
