Keep a track of this place for many more learning doses
Please ask everybody else too to participate at single place and avoid opening threads for single queries.

SB

Of ho,
just a single day's absence and can see thread lying idle. Anyway here we go....but before we start statuary request to all who ever see this message that because now you all know about this thread please try to divert all the query traffic to this not because I am planning to stand in possible early lok Shabha elections but because this is not a thread but a wiki-tradopia in making!! Bus ek do achhe Guru ki talaah hai humare prashno (queries/doubts) ka uttar dene ko....hari om!!
Today's question......
  1. So we understood like we hold money in bank accounts we hold securities in Dmat account.
  2. These securities we transfer when we sell them after receiving money through the supporting banking channel and similarly buy and store again buy paying for them.
  3. Now the question is after settlement is it safe to assume that the company say Reliance will be knowing about me , i mean my name atleast as one of the share holders, or otherwise to say they keep on updating all the names on regular basis and at any point of time at least theoratically a listed and Dmaterialised company can tell all its shareholders name with significant accuracy?
  4. The second question is if DMat is analogus to normal savings (rather current as it include charges) bank account then is it possible to transfer or gift share as we can do with money, without trade ?

Zaroorat hai zaroorat hai.....ek bade guru ki......bhale trader ki.....shankaayein door kare jo banchon ki!!

SB

Hey SB
this 1 is a gr8 attempt..
I was looking for such a thread...
for ur 1st Q..
I dont think they would have any record of who is holding their script..I believe they would track the holding based on the group of investor[retail/FII etc]...however at any time they will be able to trace down to you through your DP...

2Q-->dont think so v can transfer shares to diff acc...[not sure though...]

Hello SB this is infact a nice thread! Hope this will catch fire gradually as we proceed. i am a newbie in this field. I have already posted a thread with few basic questions but did not get proper response there. So posting it again here....

Hello members! I am new to this forum as u can see from the no. of posts made by me! I am also new to investing though have a lots of interest in this field. I decided that i am going to join u all in investing in shares.

I have read many online articles about opening trader a/c and demat a/c but i really cant decide on which one. I mean first i thought that ICICIdirect will be fine as i read that their features are good, though the brokerages are quite high. But decided not to after knowing that the site is very slow and often hangs!

Then i decided on HDFCsec. But came to know that its service is very poor of many fronts.

Now i have decided on IndiaBulls after searching and reading posts of this forum.
Plz let me decide on a broker.
I would also like to know how good will be a local sub-broker in our neighbourhood? How to find out whether they are actually good or not?

I will be mainly investing and not much trading- suppose say will invest in a company for about 1 week or few months before moving on to other if I hear good about that company. I will also be applying for IPOs.

Now plz suggest me a good company for my trading a/c and demat a/c.

Also tell me few books which are absolutely a must read before joining this community-share investing or trading. As i am a student i really cant waste much time reading many books on this field.
I hope u all experienced traders will surely help me.

Waiting for ur reply.

Thanks!!

Well techani I'll ensure that at least heat if not fire remains forever on on this thread at the same time making this objective of this single point query thread is difficult to achieve without convincing others not to open many threads for single queries but to collect are the queries on this thread only.....Let's see..
And about your query, as you are not interested in day trading much I recommend to go ahead with ICICI itself as in comparisons to others or standalone they really provide pretty cool and planned trading platform with almost everything to trade into, consider higher brokerage as a price for your mental peace!
Regarding books try getting Brealey/Myers its one book giving both lucid and in depth description of Corporate finance and day today jargon used in stock market and company analysis. (look around as there are few e-copies are also available of the same) .

With Regards,
SB

Welcome rakesh and we'll be more than glad to help you out but not on this thread as a simple walk through the previous posts will reveal the special purpose and logic behind this thread to please spare this from any trading/market/speculation related queries but instead make the full use of this thread by getting answers to ever nagging doubts and questions

Regards,
SB
P.S.Other members, view are increasing every day but no participation? Please come forward and reveal your mastery in explaining market financial concepts or simply roll put your doubts and help thread getting momentum!

Basic/Stupid question - Is there a possibility to see ,who were all the traders in a particular stock ? For eg - 1000 ACC shares were traded on a particular day. Can i see ,who bought, how much and what price ? If yes - how ?

Paddy

More basic and genuine answer
No, else you may kidnap that person So although bulk deals are declared for regulatory purposes but in retail trading you can't see even the buyers/source of your own trades. That means in placing the order of 100 shares of ACC you may (infact mostly will) end getting some 32 from someone, another 17 from someone else and likewise.....so no clearcut mapping for retail trading is generated.
Keep Posting..............We are still looking for some Guru!!

Regards,
SB
