Volume in Stock Market lingo means the number of shares that changed hands during trade.

Volumes can be classified as hourly, daily, weekly, etc. But in most technical analysis, daily volumes are used.

thanx for your response and i apologize i couldnt quite follow, " number of shares that changed hands" ?

in layman's term, does that mean no. of shares that have been bought or sold as of this date ?

thanx again.
