Hey Shubra:
You're gonna have to go through a little bit of hell getting all the paperwork ready to trade from the UK. I'm in Canada facing the same nightnmare because of Indian bureaucracy. Don't mind sharing details with you but you'll have to wait till I see the way through the mess. Dusty |

Whether you are in Dubai or London, the same laws apply. Dubai does not restrict you, but the Indian laws will. For example, you will still be an NRI and as an NRI you will not b able to trade intraday. Bottom line: you will be able to trade but with restrictions. You should the rules for NRI trading. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the response,
So where should we find out the rules for NRI trading? and where has it been mentioned that an NRI is not allowed to trade intraday in Indian shares? What are the restrictions? Regards Mayflower |

I am based in UK and just recently have started trading with them. Since I was in India in August, It was easier to open an account. They are reasonably efficient. I would suggest that you send them an email about your intention to trade from UK and to explain to them how you can open an account from UK. Another alternative that you can visit an ICICI bank if it is near you. They now provide NRIs' to do online trading. They will be able to explain all the formalities possibly. |
